BRAINSTORMING IN YOUR COMPANIES: FAST, EFFECTIVE, AND PAINLESS
Brainstorming is a method of solving a problem in which the participants in the discussion offer a huge number of ideas. Then select the most successful and apply them in practice.
EACH PERSON HAS A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE THAT ALLOWS THEM TO LOOK AT THE SITUATION IN THEIR OWN WAY. THIS ALLOWS MANY COMPANIES TO CREATE THE MOST DARING AND UNUSUAL WAYS TO SOLVE PROBLEMS DURING BRAINSTORMING SESSIONS.
However, brainstorming often turns into complete chaos, and the result does not justify the time and effort spent.
Moscow Business School has prepared a material on how to organize a brainstorming session in a company and get the best results.
PUT A PROBLEM
Put a problem
Clearly state the question that the participants will have to solve. For example, the topic “Marketing and advertising” is too General for brainstorming. Focus on the specifics and results: “What are the best ways to stimulate consumers in a crisis?”
GIVE US TIME TO PREPARE
Give us time to prepare
It is better to voice the topic of the assault in advance, then the participants will be able to study the problem, think about options for solving it and come to a discussion with their preparations.
CREATE A FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE
Create a friendly atmosphere
Brainstorming is fun! Its game form encourages you to generate non-standard approaches and interesting ideas. Let your colleagues know that each idea is valuable, and be attentive to the opinions expressed.
POSTPONE THE DISCUSSION
Postpone the discussion
Don’t rush to evaluate ideas, avoid discussing them until the end of the assault. Also ask your colleagues not to comment on other people’s suggestions — during brainstorming, any thoughts are important, even those that seem impossible or absurd.
ENCOURAGE NON-STANDARD IDEAS
Encourage original ideas
Do not reject even the most ridiculous or fantastic offers. It is much easier to adapt a bold idea to your circumstances than to find a ready-made solution to the problem. Use the creative creation technologies that you can learn at the MBS workshop.
QUANTITY, NOT QUALITY
Quantity, not quality
The more options to solve the problem, the more chances to find the right way! Be sure to write down all your ideas so that you don’t miss anything. It is necessary not to go into details, but only to capture the main idea — you can think through the nuances later.
DEVELOP OTHER PEOPLE’S IDEAS
Develop other people’s ideas
Expand, add details, combine with your thoughts and offer!
This will allow you to explore all possible solutions to the problem and find something completely new.
FORGET ABOUT INDIVIDUALISM
Forget about individualism
Don’t get hung up on who came up with the best idea. Brainstorming is a team effort, and the result belongs to all participants!
