First you need to understand what we are dealing with. The term “burnout” came from medicine and was introduced into psychology by the American psychiatrist Freudenberg in 1974. This syndrome is manifested by increasing nervous exhaustion, chronic fatigue and” absenteeism ” from a state of stress.

If you think that this disease is easy to “catch” like the flu, then you are mistaken. This problem is growing like a snowball. You can live for a long time without feeling any burnout. It all depends on a person’s endurance. Someone can fight fatigue for longer, someone “burns” for three years.

However, there are factors that inevitably affect the emotional state of a person in a particular team.

Frowning boss. And this is a serious reason to think about it. If the Manager is not optimistic and does not charge everyone with his energy, then the people around him will behave the same way.
Corporate culture. Do not condemn the staff to an eternal routine and work from call to call. If a person lives only by his duties, it gradually tires. As a” shake-up”, trips to the country, team building, and visiting museums are ideal. A satisfied employee is a productive employee.
“Old-timers” of the company. Often people who work for a long time in one place begin to get tired, and this fatigue can affect newcomers. Discontent of old people should be “extinguished” with various motivational chips. For example, you can organize an internal professional competition or simply declare gratitude.
Interior solution. Oddly enough, even the color of the walls in the office can be the last straw that will accelerate emotional burnout. That is why now great importance is paid to the arrangement of the workplace of the staff. So say no to the gray tones in the office.

Are there” impenetrable ” employees who are not afraid of either depression or crises? Possible. But everyone can slacken. If we talk about temperament, then the fastest “burn” melancholics and choleric. The first ones are too vulnerable, the second ones are too impetuous.

Burnout can also be diagnosed in employees depending on the stage of their professional development in the company. HR specialists distinguish several categories of personnel:

1. Rookie
2. Experienced
3. Workhorse
4. Guru
Representatives of the second category suffer the most. They have already passed the wave of enthusiasm, when everything new is interesting and inspiring. But at the same time, they still do not grab the stars from the sky, like a guru, and can get bored.

The Council. Try delegating interesting and challenging tasks equally between “newcomers”and” old-timers”. This way, a certain balance will be created, and working in a team will be much more effective.

An employee with chronic fatigue can be seen with the naked eye. All people are different and show their emotions in different ways. But experts identify several typical symptoms:

Diseases are imaginary and real. A person who does not want to get up in the morning to work, in the literal sense, “withers”. If you hear the word “sick” from your colleague more often than” Hello”, you need to do something about it.
Clothing in black and gray tones. It happens that a once bright and charismatic employee turns into a “gray mouse”. From his appearance, it becomes clear that he clearly does not go to work as a holiday.
Pessimism. These are complaints, negative arguments about the lack of light at the end of the tunnel, and other depressive moods that need to be nipped in the Bud.

Let your employees know that their work is important to the firm. Give employees more opportunities for initiative. The ideal option is when the company has a specialist who cares about the comfort of the staff, organizes “unloading” events. Joint trips to museums, cinemas, bowling, travel. Entertainment can be chosen for every taste and budget.

Burnout is fatigue multiplied by routine. Therefore, save yourself and your subordinates from monotony. Give one person a free hand: let them choose a new interesting project. If possible, send the second one for training. And with the third, it is ideal just to have a heart-to-heart conversation.
